Gin cocktail recipes for summer

Gin cocktail recipes for summer

Here are three very special cocktail recipes dreamed up especially for us by the team at our local pub/restaurant/hotel, Tom Kitchin’s The Bonnie Badger.

Samphire Sensation

The salty, mineral edge of samphire makes this a fantastic partner for our seashore-flavoured gin.

35 ml Fidra gin
35 ml elderflower cordial
20 ml lime juice
A dash of orange blossom water
1 egg white
Small handful of samphire
Tiny sprinkle of salt

Simply shake all the ingredients thoroughly in a cocktail shaker until well blended. Then strain twice and pour into a coupe glass. Garnish with a twist of samphire.

Rosemary Ripple

A delectably fruity long cocktail which really is summer in a glass.

30 ml Fidra gin
35 ml cranberry juice
20 ml lemon juice
15 ml sugar syrup
4 crushed raspberries
Rosemary sprig
Blanquette de Limoux or similar dry sparkling wine to top up

Shake all the ingredients, except for the fizz, with crushed ice. Strain twice then pour into a tall glass. Top with your sparkling wine and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and an edible flower.

Good Thyme

The woody aroma of thyme plus a touch of citrus – a natural fit with Fidra.

30 ml Fidra gin
35 ml thyme syrup
20 ml lemon juice
Dash of orange bitters
Pinch of black pepper
Sprig of mint

Shake vigorously in a shaker with crushed ice then strain twice and pour into an Old Fashioned (whisky) glass. Decorate with a mint sprig and an optional edible flower.
